what does it look like ? :

Creeping Indigo (Indigo Spicata) is a low lying- ground cover weed that is cleverly disguised as innocent clover. In this section- we will show you each of it's unique characteristics that make it easier to positively identify: miniature snap dragon-like flowers that are coral/pink to red in color; vine-like runners that fan out from one central tap-root; sharp pointed seed pods light green-brown in color; rounded tipped, alternating leaves; and a carrot-like tap root.

CI is VERY PALATABLE to our animals. Actually, MANY have shown to PREFER it over the taste of regular grass. That is what makes THE DEADLY DIFFERENCE with this weed. Many other weeds are not a risk for well fed and cared for animals.. But, CI is.

CI's toxicity SPIKES when it is STRESSED- either by cold snap, drought etc. So, while your horses may have survived last year with access to the weed... THIS YEAR could be different. GET RID OF IT! It's not worth the gamble!

*PLEASE, SEE THE ABOUT CREEPING INDIGO SECTION OF THIS SITE, AS WELL AS THE CI PHOTO GALLERY FOR CLOSE UPS OF EACH CHARACTERISTIC!
